Storm (X-men)

I drew this image in my spare time, it's a graphite drawing of Storm from the X-men. I used a rubber to make the lightning so striking against the grey graphite. I exhibited this piece along with others at House of Heroes comic book shop in Loughborough.

Trick or Treat!

This is a pumpkin I carved for Halloween (2007). My family really make a big deal about Halloween every year and we really enjoy carving pumpkins. This one took hours!

Orange

This is a piece of work I did at college. It's an observation of a piece of tried orange, and is a finger painting that I did with acrylic on brown paper. It's bigger than A1 but smaller than A0. I was really expressive with this one and I really enjoyed doing it. I used complimentary colours purple and yellow and gave it a silver wash background to give the orange some context. The white lines really help with the definition I think. This was exhibited along with my "Love" sculpture at Leicester City Gallery.

Love

This is a sculpture that I created for an exhibition at Leicester City Gallery, based on the title "Natural Forms". I wanted to combine not only the natural form of the human body but also an emotion which is natural, and decided on love; the heart and its tendrils linking the bodies together symbolise their love for one another. I used chicken wire, mod roc and plaster for the bodies and mixed media for the heart and tendrils.

Skyscrapers

These trees are in a forest nearby my house, and they reminded me of skyscrapers in how tall they looked. And then I started thinking about how skyscraper is an adjective really as well as a noun, and thought "why can't a tall tree be a skyscraper?". So there you go.

Outside

Again in Morocco, I visited an old school and this is a photograph from inside, from one of the top windows of the building. I like the use of the iron railings in the foreground, they frame the woman well.

Cactus flowers

I visited Morocco in easter of 2008 and took my camera, and ended up with a LOT of pictures! This is one of my favourites, a macro shot of a cactus. I like this image a lot but think that it would have been better if I'd have focused the camera more on the flowers in the foreground. I do however love the vibrancy of the colours in this shot.
